Cappadocia is a fairy tale… It’s like a film stage, constructed by nature with great patience over 25 million years… The forms are as if they were made by fairies…The locals called these beautiful formations “fairy chimneys”. This geography was one the first centers of Christianity and a home for many civilizations, from the Assurians to the Ottomans, from the Hittites to the Greeks. In the heart of Anatolia lies Cappadocia; it has carried those coming from the east to the west and those coming from the west to the east. The heroes of this fairy tale are the fairy chimneys. The only way of discovering and getting lost in the forms of these fairy chimneys, seeing the hidden churches and the monk cells carved in the rocks, is by walking Cappadocia. One of the characteristics of Cappadocia is having plenty of underground cities. It’s known that there are more than a hundred underground settlements here. Come walk with us – explore magical Cappadocia. You will be picked up from your hotel around 09:30. We will proceed to Red and Rose Valley which are isolated valleys behind Urgup. It has beautiful rock formation with some great hidden rock-carved churches. The most interesting part of this area is the countless tracks connecting the small villages and towns through vineyards and gardens. It is always possible to see villagers working in the area and offering grapes, apples or apricots to you.You wil have chance to see natural life and farmers life style in Cappadocia. Then visit to Cavusin Village,one of the oldest settlements in the area,on the Goreme-Avanos road. The Church of St.John the Baptist offers a panoramic view of the village. This church and its paintigs date back to the 5th century, making the oldest church in the region. Also this village was inhabited by Greek until 1920’s. After Cavusin Old Greek Village, we will have lunch in a local restaurant. After lunch, we will head to the largest underground city; Kaymakli Underground City and we will go 4 floors down. From here, we will go to Uchisar town and see the pigeon houses in Pigeon Valley. Pigeon drops were used as fertilizer for long time. We will end pur tour with the visit to Cappadocia Handcraft Center. Tour will have ended around at 16:30.
